65. Chanel Resort 2010

I'll admit it's nothing new, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Chanel Resort collection. Appropriately held on a boardwalk in Venice with guests reclining on sunbeds, the show was almost an image from the past... especially with the heavily 30s influenced styles that the models were sporting. Here are my favourite looks from the show, the last two in particular.

In some ways I prefer Resort and Pre-Fall collections to the main SS and FW collections. Why? Because there are generally lower expectations and who doesn't enjoy a pleasant surprise?

Bottega Veneta is not one of my favourite fashion labels but I usually find some nice pieces in their collections and this was no exception. Bold colours, thin stripes and loose fitting items convey an image that is casual yet sophisticated. Most of all I love the way the accessories (scarves, belts and handbags) really make the clothes stand out.

I adore fashion like this which looks like something from the past, only with a twist that keeps it relevant. I love shirts with ruffles, jackets with beautiful buttons and bows. There are a couple of items I'm not keen on, but overall I think this is a good and wearable (jackets and shirts especially) collection.

I'm really in love with this beautiful new Fur Fur collection. I love the traditional Japanese influences here - in some of the fabrics, hair flowers and shapes of the outfits.

Japan Fashion Week started yesterday, and already I'm hooked! I love Japanese fashion - the layering, the colours, the mixture of fabrics and the juxtaposition of them and the fact that you need to look closely to see the details... Below, we can see some examples of this (colourful plaid, stripes and intriguing layering) in the Mercibeaucoup collection.
