Animals in motion are very difficult to photograph, especially insects and one that moves as fast and unpredictably as a dragonfly. They are such strange insects, living for 2-3 years as an ugly nymph and hardly any time at all as a colourful dragonfly. I found myself noticing how much energy they have and the darting, unpredictable movements of their flight... it made me feel quite dizzy.
September looks to be a fruitful month for magazines. Here are two beautiful editorials from 'Another Magazine' . Firstly a black and white editorial photographed by Willy Vanderperre featuring model Natasha Poly dressed for winter by the sea. (See pictures 302-316)
In contrast, the second editorial by Craig McDean is an explosion of colours and almost surreal effects. (See pictures 317-327)
I love both editorials and the two different styles of photography.
As summer draws to a close, I prepare myself for the change in weather that autumn usually brings. While I admit that this isn't my favourite time of year, I do enjoy the rustling sound when walking through a pile of leaves and watching them fall from the trees. I have uploaded one of my favourite autumn fashion editorials full of fallen leaves and rustic colours. Shot by Mert & Marcus and modeled by Doutzen Kroes, we see a series of photographs depicting the idea of a "teddy bears picnic". As the famous rhyme goes "if you go down into the woods today you're sure of a big surprise..." In this case I'm not sure the surprise was a good one as there is a sinister, creepy undertone to the photos - everything from the contrasting colours, through to the atypical positioning of the bears. This reminds me that autumn is also the season that brings us Halloween. As my friends will tell you, I enjoy dressing up and I'm already thinking about my outfit for this year!
The rest of the editorial can be seen in my photos - numbers 226 - 240
I've been itching to travel lately. There's nothing more exciting than visiting a new place full of undiscovered delights. As a child I would love being at the airport watching all the planes go out while waiting for my flight to be called.
This photograph by clearskyphotography captures the movement when "taking off".
